This scene: When we realize that despite Korra telling him to “go away” and Tenzin explaining that she will need time, Mako still pursues her because he would always be there for her and accept her - Avatar powers or not.
That hug: Mako is his composed protective self as he walks towards her with his arms outstretched but Korra just jumps right into his arms - because that’s just the type of girl she is - and he twirls her around for good measure. She’ll always be the one who brings out that side of him.
And THAT is why I love them together. They’ve gone through a lot of tough times (NOT referring to the ridiculously and unnecessary stupid love triangle), but their different personalities -that could clash pretty hard at times- changed each other for the better. I can say that their romance, albeit not perfect, was much more well done than the romance in the original series.
